This past week I was actually nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. After the initial shock wore off, I was beaming with happiness for days until….we all got sick. For the past two weeks at least one out of the three of us has been battling a fever. I’ve spent most of this week and this past weekend disinfecting our house from top to bottom, left to right. Today I am grateful for the health of our little family. AND! I am forever grateful to have been nominated for this blogger award.
A big thank you goes out to Georgia Leece of Just Georgia for nominating me as one of the eleven nominees for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Go show her some love by leaving a comment on one of her blog posts and let her know you came from Earthly Mama! One of the very first things I noticed about the blogging community is how kind and supportive every blogger is. Whether it be helping promote a blog post, or connecting with other bloggers or just giving advice, everyone is so encouraging and willing to share their knowledge with everyone. Being a part of such an inclusive and kind community has been such a humbling experience and has helped me meet some amazing bloggers who have become some of my closest friends! Thank you bloggers!
So those of you who are just tuning into Earthly Mama, I have been blogging for about 6 months now and was nominated for my first ever award as a small motherhood and lifestyle blogger. I am so grateful for this award, but especially grateful for everyone who has helped me get here! I couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you. Below you’ll find answers to a few questions about me and the blog! So, let’s get started!
Sunshine Blogger Award Q&A
If you were to collaborate with anyone for your blog, who would it be?
Before I ever thought about blogging, the one blogger who’s posts I’ve always kept up to date with and tried to support is Elizabeth from Oak + Oats. She is one of the most kind spirited, fun, engaging bloggers I’ve ever come across. She always responds to her readers and has such a positive, kind energy, I absolutely love her! It would be an absolute dream and honour to be able to collaborate on a project and post with Elizabeth one day.
What is your favourite time of year and why?
I can honestly say that since I’ve been a little girl my most favourite time of year has always been Christmas. I enjoy Christmas more than I enjoy my own birthday. If it was possible, I would make Christmas a month long. Growing up, our family didn’t celebrate Christmas in the traditional way. Instead, it was the small things that made it special: time off from school, trying to keep my sister believing in Santa Claus by telling her I could hear the sleigh bells ringing, watching the classic Christmas movies with my siblings and spending time with family eating delicious Indian food made by my lovely grandmother. Now that I have a family of my own, I love all of our little traditions and I look forward to the holiday season every year!
Why did you decide to start blogging?
Blogging started out as a way for our friends and family around the world to keep in touch with the whereabouts of our little family. As a family that moves so often it can become quite difficult to keep everyone up to date. So I decided to start blogging as a way for everyone to see what we were up to, to see Belle grow and develop and for me to dive further into my mini passion of photography.
What is your dream job?
Is it weird that I don’t have a dream job? As a family we try to focus on the present and be present in every moment. I absolutely love being a stay at home mom, wife and homemaker and right now I am very content doing just those things. However, I guess if I had to choose a dream job it would be to be a full time blogger or something in social media marketing. It would be amazing to be able to work from home and be my own boss and everyday I try my hardest to make that a reality one day. The one thing I have recently been thinking about is finishing my degree, so who knows. We’ll just have to wait and see where life leads us in the next few years.
What do you hope to have achieved in the next 5 years?
We just got our passports! So in the next five years we hope to have it covered in stamps with our bucket list of travel destinations! Our first travel adventure begins next week with our first ever family vacation to Portugal!
Do you have any quotes you live by? What are they?
Yes! One of my most favourite quotes is ‘Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell not stuff to show.’
Pool or beach?
Neither? I don’t actually know how to swim so I’ve never found any reason to go to either haha. But I guess if I had to choose, maybe the beach. Mostly because I would love to try and build an extravagant sand castle!
How would you describe your style?
The comfortable but classy mom style.
What’s one thing you love about yourself?
My sense of adventure! haha.
What is the most special and meaningful thing you own?
Our box of memories. We have a huge box of some of our most precious memories as a couple, and now a little family and it’s the most special thing we own.
Are you someone who prefers the city or countryside?
Countryside! I grew up in the city and then as soon as I turned 18 I left and moved to a small town and it was the best decision I ever made. It’s where I met my husband and we started our adventurous lifestyle. I absolutely love the countryside especially because people are a lot kinder, friendships are way more meaningful and everyone is really open and honest with one another, compared to when I lived in the city. Countryside, forever!
